For seventy years during the reign of Communism in Mongolia, Genghis Khan was pronounced as a feudal oppressor by the Soviet backed government and hence, everything related to him was tabooed. Democratic now for a good four fourteen years, the natives are going all out reclaiming and reinstating Genghis Khan as their national hero. From newborn babies, schools and streets to vodka brands, everything is being baptised after the Emperor of all Emperors and now even a $5 million statue depicting him and his sons is being erected in its capital city Ulaanbaatar – which might be renamed Genghis City!
